What is vomiting?
Vomiting can be the result of many problems including motion sickness, infection, irritation or shock. Many dogs will be sick from time to time, and this is probably nothing to worry about if it is a one off and they seem otherwise fine. However, repeated vomiting especially if they can’t keep fluid down, leads to dehydration.

Remove the dogs food bowl. Restrict access to water as a vomiting dog may be thirsty, drink too much, and be sick again. Give a tablespoon of water every 20-30 minutes, and once they haven’t been sick for 3 – 4 hours increase the quantity to half a teacupful.
If the dog is vomiting continuously, or develops other symptoms such as diarrhoea, dullness or lethargy, then contact the vet for an urgent appointment.
